This 3-hour small-group tour will take you to the best sites in Saint John, such as the Carleton Martello Tower, Fort La Tour, Saint John City Market, and Rockwood Park. Plus, you’ll avoid wait times and long lines.

Your tour begins with your entertaining, local guide meeting at your downtown accommodation and bringing you to the first stop on the tour, the Saint John City Market. The iconic market, dating back to the 1870’s, offers a large variety of vendors carrying local produce, seafood, meats, and crafts. It is the oldest continuously operated farmers market in Canada. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy a tasty snack at one of the cafés or shop for unique souvenirs for family and friends.

Following the City Market, you’ll get to relax on a fully narrated driving tour through Saint John passing many popular attractions and sites such as Saint John Port, Red Rose Tea House, City Gardens, Rockwood Park, King Square, Irving House, and historic Fort Howe.

Next, its off to the Reversing Rapids, a unique phenomenon created by the collision of the Saint John River and the Bay of Fundy. At low tide, the river pours into the bay causing a series of whirlpools and rapids. As the tide rises, it slows the river current for a brief period, called slack tide. The Bay's tide continues to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river, forming rapids. You will get to witness ‘nature’s tug-of-war’.

Then, a little history as the tour stops at Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site, one of the nine surviving Martello Towers in Canada dating back to 1812. The tower played playing a significant role in conflicts up until the Second World War. From here, you’ll experience spectacular views of Saint John, its skyline and harbor.

The final stop will be at Fort La Tour National Historic Site of Canada, located on Harbour Passage on the Bay of Fundy. Fort La Tour is an archaeological site containing the remains of a 17th-century fortified fur trading post and evidence of over 4000 years of Indigenous history.

At the end of your tour, your guide will bring you back downtown.
