Twice each day 100 billion tons of water enters and exits the Bay of Fundy. At the Reversing Falls Rapids, water levels rise as high as 9 meters in a tidal cycle. Each complete cycle is approximately 12 hours and 10 minutes. If you time it just right, you can watch the Bay of Fundy’s monstrously high tide reverse the flow of the mighty Saint John River, creating a natural tug-of-war.

Beneath the water’s surface are a series of ledges, or underwater falls as high as 60 meters (200 ft). It’s the underwater rock formations that force the water to swirl in rapids. These Reversing Falls Rapids are a natural wonder unique to the Bay of Fundy – a thrill lover’s dream!
