Learn about history and taste local cuisine on a guided walking tour of downtown Victoria.

Your tasty, guided tour begins at the historic Hudson Bay Building, now the home of the bustling Victoria Public Market. You’ll tour the market and enjoy a decadent farm-to-table soup from The Big Spoon Soup Company and  a traditional Italian arancini (risotto ball).

Next, the tour will make its way to historic Chinatown where you will visit the Chinese Public School built in 1909 and explore the exciting culinary scene along colourful Fisgard Street.

After passing under the Gates of Harmonious Interest, the tour stops at Wai Lai Yeun Bakery for a traditional baked Char Sui bun, a savory pork bun with a touch of sweetness baked fresh daily. You’ll then visit Maiiz Nixtamal Tortilleria for an authentic taco made by master tortilla maker Chef Israel. The tour also stops at La Roux Patisserie for a lovely French macaron.

You’ll follow your guide through Fan Tan Alley on your way to the historic and beautiful Market Square where you’ll try some modern Thai dumplings from the very hip Dumpling Drop and then to Whistle Buoy Brewing Company to sip on some local craft beer. A non-alcoholic sample is also available.

Need to know:

  • This tour is suitable for all ages however there is an optional alcohol sample. The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19 years of age. You may be required to present your government issued ID to participate in alcohol tastings. There is a non-alcohol alternative.
  • This tour tour can accomodate most allegeries. Gluten allergy cannot be accommodated on this tour. The tour does have a vegan option.
  • This tour is wheelchair accessible.
  • Capacity:  maximum 14 guests, minimum 2 guests.
  • Walking Distance: approximately 2 km. Total walking time is approximately 45-minutes.
  • Tour runs regardless of weather.
