Edmonton NASCAR Race Car Driving Experience

This is where you get to drive a race car like the pros do! Buckle up and put the pedal to the metal!

This adrenaline-pumping driving experience kicks off with your instructor taking you on a guided walk around the track. During this 45-to-60-minute tour your instructor will go over safety procedures, driving techniques and everything you need to know to get you prepared for your stock car driving experience.

Once the orientation session is complete, you’ll get dressed in a race suit and have your picture taken in front of the race car. Then, you’ll climb through the window and slide into the driver’s seat. A crew member will make sure you are strapped snuggly in your harness and helmet fitted on. A few last-minute instructions and you are ready to race.

Next, your instructor rolls through Pit Row in the Pace Car and gives you the ‘Thumbs Up’. You’ll follow the Pace Car onto the racetrack and go around the ¼ mile paved oval racetrack for 5 warm up laps under the Yellow Flag … and the Flagman drops the Green Flag, and you are off!

The Pace Car will speed up with you following, going as fast as he feels you can handle your car for 10 adrenaline-pumping last! If you aren’t hitting cones or moving up in the corners and you are maintaining a two car lengths distance behind the instructor, they will keep speeding up giving you an awesome NASCAR style driving experience.

Each participant is on the track “one at a time” following the Pace Car. This allows each person to be able to drive at their own comfort level without having to worry about passing or other cars around you on the track.

The stock cars used for this NASCAR Test Drive Experience are fully built race cars. They have a race car chassis and fiberglass bodies, very similar to the cars you would see at a NASCAR Cup Race on TV. All the Test Drive Cars have automatic transmissions.

• Each participant will receive 2 complimentary adult tickets to that night's race event, or another that fits your schedule.
• A souvenir photo of your unforgettable NASCAR experience is included (emailed to you).

Previous racing experience is not required.

NASCAR Race Car Ride-Along experience: On the Ride-Along experience, you will get an hour of instruction walking the track you’re your instructor. When this orientation session is done, you will be buckled into the passenger seat of a NASCAR Stock Car and an experienced Race Car Driver will take you out onto the track for 15 laps of pure speed!

How fast can I go?
These race cars do not have speedometers therefore and you cannot gauge your experience by how “fast” you go. The purpose of this experience is to give you the idea of how it feels to “test drive” a race car on a race track. However, you are encouraged to drive at a speed that you feel comfortable with and one that you will maintain absolute control of the car at all times.

Can I bring my family / friends:
Absolutely. They can come watch and there is no charge. They will not be allowed in the Pit Area during the Experience however from their viewpoint in the Grandstands, they will be able to see everything. They are also welcome to come down to the pit area after the entire test drive session is complete.

Where:

• Edmonton International Raceway, Wetaskiwin, a short drive south of Edmonton  VIEW MAP

• You do not need to have a Driver’s License however you must know how to drive a car and be comfortable behind the wheel.
• Minimum age for participation is 16 years.
• All Participants must sign a Liability Waiver acknowledging that they assume this activity under their own risk.
• Minors (Under 18) must have a Parent’s Waiver signed provided by experience provider.
• The EIR NASCAR Test Drive Cars are built to accommodate different heights of participants. The seats can be moved forward, and the Test Drive Staff will provide extra “backing” in order to move the driver closer to the steering wheel and pedals for shorter drivers. The seats can be moved backwards as well to accommodate longer leg length.
• The car window is 15” high by 28” wide window that sits 35” from the ground. If you are unable to physically enter the car through the Driver’s window, the experience provider has a car specifically for that purpose with a window/door that folds over for easier access.
• Test Drive/Race School Participants are responsible for any damage and the cost of repairs for those damages to Test Drive/Race School Cars.
• You will need to wear close-toed shoes.
• If it is raining of the day of your experience, you experience will be rebooked for another date.
• If you arrive at the track and take part in any portion of your Test Drive and it does rain, the experience provider will make every effort to dry the track and continue. If that is not possible, they will rebook your experience.
• The cars do not have a passenger seat. You will not be able to have a passenger with you.
