Heart Creek Canyoning Tour

The perfect way for beginners to experience this amazing landscape and the exciting sport of canyoning!

Heart Creek Canyon, conveniently located near Banff and Canmore, is a prime destination for canyoning. This half-day tour is perfect for individuals who are new to Canyoning or have limited experience and possess moderate physical fitness. You’ll learn to rappel in a safe environment with a certified instructor with spectacular views the entire time. This tour is a great option for groups with different skill levels.

Canyoning is a sport that involves descending through water routes such as creeks, rivers, and streams using a variety of techniques including hiking, swimming, abseiling / rappelling, jumping, sliding, and scrambling.

• You'll meet your canyoning guide at the Heart Creek parking lot where you’ll discuss the tour progression, equipment and safety.
• You’ll hike to the upper entrance of the canyon, approximately 30 to 40 minutes of hiking (200 meters elevation gain, 3km).
• At the upper section of the canyon, you’ll get to practice and get comfortable at your own pace with some rope skills on short dry drops.
• The upper section of the canyon can be relatively dry depending on the conditions, providing lots of opportunities to practice rappelling and take in the spectacular scenery before getting wet in the lower section.
• A 5-minute walk from the end of the upper section, you’ll reach the last section of canyon where you’ll greet an incredible 18-meter waterfall for a full-on rappel as the grand finale!
• Those who don't feel comfortable have the option to walk around this section.
• The tour will conclude with a series of fun slides and a hike back to the parking lot.

• A qualified guide with recognized certification.
• All safety equipment including a wetsuit, dry backpack, harness, belay device and lanyards.

• Please note that you will need to hike up two short but steep hills on the hike in, even if we proceed at a relaxed pace.
• You will need to possess moderate physical fitness.
• Maximum of 8 participants.
• Minimum age for participation is 12.
• Minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
• Minimum height limit is 4’6”.
• Maximum harness waist size is 42.
• What to bring: bathing suit, towel, running or light hiking shoes that can go in water, windbreaker, light rain or hardshell jacket, water (1 litre), and a small lunch or snacks.
