Turn the town of Elora, Ontario into a clue solving game!

This scavenger hunt style adventure is a great experience for families, friends, and groups. You can race against the clock or simply meander along as you enjoy the experience. How you explore Elora and solve the mystery is entirely up to you!

Using a smartphone or tablet as your “tour guide”, friends and family can join you in testing your knowledge, uncover unknown hotspots, and have lots of fun! You will solve clues with each clue leading you on an easy walk to a new location where you'll find animportant photo and uncover some secrets that even the locals don’t know about.

Your Elora clue solving adventure: The Grand Gorge Race

A local historian has unearthed a story that calls into question how the charming Ontario town of Elora was founded. A dispute between rival claims to the land was resolved by holding a raft race along the river and through the gorge. Do you and your team have what it takes to help the historian follow a trail of clues around town to find the names of those involved?

• Start location: Downtown Elora

• Start time: It is flexible! Start any day any time. Just finish it before it gets too dark.

• Walking distance: Approximately 3km on paved sidewalks and woodland trails, with several hills and some optional stairs.

• Average time to complete: 2-hours

• Level of difficulty: This experience is family and pet friendly. However the clues can be quite challenging and we therefore recommend playing with adults.
  
  
• What you need: At least one fully charged cellphone per team (we advise 2+). Dress for the weather and wear footwear suitable for walking around town.
  
  
• Highlights: Elora Gorge, historic shops and pubs, and waterfalls

How it works:

• You’ll receive a series of clues on the free APP. Each clue will guide you to the next location where you'll find a hidden word or solve a puzzle.
• Along the way, you'll visit local icons, uncover hidden places, and experience stunning scenery.
• Once you’ve registered your adventure and selected your start date with the tour provider, you will receive an email with the instructions and the access code. This happens after you’ve activated your experience on Breakaway Experiences’ website.
• Download the free APP and use the access code to activate your adventure.
• Clues are sequential and written assuming you have no knowledge of the town.
• Submit the correct answer and you will immediately get the next clue. Don’t worry, hints and directions are available, but they’ll cost you a time penalty!
• Solve all the clues and solve the final mystery!

• You are not required to buy anything along the route.
• Please ensure that your cellphone is charged before you begin. You are only required to use the phone for the App.
• Data plans are only used to activate the adventure and are not used during play.
• Additional phones may be added at no extra cost.
• Bringing a phone charger is a good idea if your battery is low or weak.
