Test your nerves and satisfy your need for adventure with this incredible climbing experience. Using a special lanyard system, you'll be climbing ladders and clinging to iron wires as you ascend to the summit of Whistler Peak.

“Via Ferrata” is Italian for “Iron Way” and is an engineered vertical pathway with permanently fixed cables for protection and metal ladder rungs for easier movement over the rock. This experience will provide a vertical perspective and exhilarating views you may not have thought possible!

Climbing a Via Ferrata does not require any special skills or prior experience. This exciting activity is not reserved for seasoned mountain climbers – any reasonably fit hiker can do it!

You’ll meet your guide at the Whistler Alpine Guides mountaintop office where you’ll soak in the amazing scenery as you get outfitted out in your climbing gear, then it’s time to begin your ascent.

At the base of the climb, you’ll look up 260m to the summit of the Whistler peak.This climb takes roughly 4 hours depending on the number of climbers, weather conditions and climbing efficiency. The route covers roughly 4 km (2.5 miles) of mountain terrain and 260 meters (850 feet) of elevation gain.

At the summit, you can take some amazing photos, followed by a short descent back to the mountaintop office to conclude the tour.

Need to know:

• Minimum age for participation is 12 years.
• Participants must be a minimum of 16 yrs old to climb without a guardian.
• Minors (19yrs & under) require a guardian’s signature on their waiver.
• Fitness level:  The guide will establish a slow and steady pace throughout the tour. A moderate/average level of fitness is recommended.
• The weather in the alpine can change fast. We recommend you bring waterproof clothing and extra layers.
• Hiking boots - If you do not have your own hiking boots, the tour provider will have some you can borrow.
• It is a great idea to bring sunscreen and sunglasses as the snow in the alpine makes everything much brighter.
• You are responsible for your own food and water.
• Please allow 25 minutes for the gondola trip from Whistler Village and be at the top of the mountain 20 minutes prior to your hike departure time.
