Halifax Clue Solving Adventure

A fun interactive adventure with friends, family, date-night, team building … pretty much anyone!

The games route includes many stops at cultural, historic, cultural or little-known Halifax landmarks. With your smartphone as your guide, you’ll decipher a series of clues to solve a mystery. Each clue will lead you on an easy walk to the next location where you'll find an important photo and uncover some secrets that even the locals aren’t aware of.

You can play at any time, and you can take as long as you want. Should you choose to race against the clock or enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace as you discover Halifax is entirely up to you!

Your Halifax Clue Solving Adventure: The Secret of the Seas

Follow a trail of clues throughout Halifax’s historic and scenic downtown!
For fifty years Silas MacNeil built boats along Nova Scotia’s foggy shoreline, recording his thoughts about every vessel in a weathered ledger. It was even said that the ledger contained a piece of ancient lore… the ‘Secret of the Seas’. Key pages had been torn out and a note in his grandfather’s handwriting said ’to find the secret, follow the clues…’ Do you have what it takes to find the ‘Secret of the Seas?’

• Start location: Downtown Halifax

• Start time: It is flexible! Start any day any time.

• Walking distance: 3.1km with paved pathways with lots of hills (some steep) and a few stairs. There are lots of shops, pubs, and eateries on the route, with multiple optional game breaks
  ections.

• Average time to complete: 2 hours

• Level of difficulty:  Moderate. This experience is family and pet friendly. However, the clues can be quite challenging. We recommend playing with adults.
  
  
• What you need: At least one fully charged cellphone per team (we advise 2+). Dress for the weather and wear footwear suitable for walking around town.
  
  
• Highlights: Historic downtown, Halifax Waterfront, Citadel Hill

How it works:

• You’ll receive a series of clues on the free APP. Each clue will lead you to the next location where you'll solve a puzzle or find a hidden word.
• Along the way, you'll visit local icons, uncover hidden places and visit local icons.
• Once you’ve registered your adventure and selected your start date with the tour provider, you will receive an email with the instructions and the access code. This happens after you’ve activated your experience on Breakaway Experiences’ website.
• Download the free APP and use the access code to activate your adventure.
• Clues are sequential and written assuming you have no knowledge of the town.
• Submit the correct answer and you will immediately get the next clue. Don’t worry, directions and hints are available, but they’ll cost you a time penalty!
• Solve all the clues and solve the final mystery!

• The game is most fun when working with other people to find and solve clues. Suggested team size is 2 - 5 players.
• Please ensure that your cellphone is charged before you begin. You are only required to use the phone for the App.
• Data plans are only used to activate your adventure and are not used during play.
• Additional phones may be added at no extra cost.
• Bringing a phone charger is a good idea if your battery is low or weak.
• You are not required to buy anything along the route.
