Banff Horseback Ride and Cowboy BBQ Cookout

Enjoy a Banff cowboy experience! 

Get a taste of the mountain air with a trail ride along the base of Sulphur Mountain. As you are horseback riding along the Bow River, try and spot wildlife hidden.

You’ll ride your horse through meadows, marshes and lush grassy fields before arriving at 3 Mile Cabin, where you’ll unwind and play some genuine cowboy games like lassoing and horseshoe throwing. After you have worked up an appetite, feast on some hearty BBQ favourites such as steak and home-made baked beans.

On the return trip, you’ll trot up to the Windy Knoll where you can take in some of the most spectacular views of the Rockies.

No prior horseback riding experience is required.  This ride is also perfect for youngsters.

Tour highlights:

• Ride along the Bow River while watching for wildlife such as ground squirrels, beavers and porcupines scampering around the marshes and meadows.
• Midway through the ride, enjoy tasty comfort food and genuine western hospitality at 3 Mile Cabin.
• Experience dazzling views of the surrounding mountains as your ride up and around the Windy Knoll.

What’s included:

• Two-hour horseback ride along the Bow River on the way to 3 Mile Cabin and along Sulphur Mountain Trail on the way back.
• Western BBQ at 3 Mile Cabin: BBQ steak, baked potato, cowboy baked beans, lunch buns, Caesar salad, dessert squares, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice.
• Brief horseback riding instruction prior to the ride.
• A friendly horse.
• Lead and tail cowboys for your ride.
• Helmet and all necessary equipment.

Need to know:

• Minimum age is 8 years.
• Maximum weight is 230 lbs.
• Dress for the weather. Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Open toe shoes or shoes with big heels are not permitted.
• Children will not be paired with an adult. They must ride their own horse.
• No experience is necessary and if you’ve never been riding before then we’ll be sure to pair you with the perfect horse so you can enjoy a comfortable ride.
• The tour provider is committed to the health of our horses and the safety of our guests. The minimum age and maximum weight requirements are strictly enforced. As part of the check-in process, guests may be required to confirm their current weight on a scale and provide proof of the child’s age. In the event that these requirements are not met, the booking will be forfeited without a refund.
• Children aged 15 years and under must have someone 18 years and older with them.
• For safety purposes helmets are provided and are mandatory to be worn by all riders.
