There is a wealth of edible mushrooms and plants to discover in BC forests. A feast awaiting those who know its secrets.  Knowing what you can and cannot eat from your local woods will enhance your walks and your diet.  This food foraging tour will show you what you need to know to safely gather, prepare and cook the unique flavours found only in nature.  

Enjoy a chef-prepared wild light lunch with tips and tricks on how best to cook and preserve all the dozens of different wild edibles in the forests.

Spring and Summer Tour (May to August): 

  • Foraging for wild berries, edible trees, shoots and leaves

  • A great tour for kids, food nerds and hikers.

  • Fiddleheads, licorice fern, big leaf maple flowers, nettles, oyster mushrooms and wild camomile to name a few of the treats you may discover.

Mushroom Foraging Tour (September to November):

  • The Fall Wild Edibles tours focus on how to SAFELY identify wild mushrooms like porcini, chanterelle, honey, wild oysters and dozens more edible mushrooms that you will never find in the grocery store!

  • With your group, you'll identify all the mushrooms you find and discuss the different families of mushrooms you can find around the world.

Need to know:

  • Walking is done mainly on gravel paths with some uneven surfaces. Depending on the final location of the tour, off path wandering may be permitted.

  • This tour is suitable for children and grandparents.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Please note this is an identification only trip (no harvesting).

  • A minimum of 6 people are required on the tour for it to operate.
