Indulge your sweet tooth with a visit to the sugar shack. You can experience first hand, from sap to syrup, all that goes into making delicious maple syrup and maple treats on a half day visit to a sugar shack in the Pontiac, a short drive from Ottawa and Gatineau.
A Sweet Experience!
In March and April, when the temperatures plummet below zero at night and rise above zero in the day, the sugar bush maple trees are tapped for their sap. The end result of maple tapping is enjoyed in many forms: maple syrup, maple candy, maple butter, and maple sugar. The sugar bush process is a fascinating one.
During your half day visit to La Vallée des Rosiers’ Sugar Shack, the Sugar Makers' guides will walk you through the process of maple extraction. See how sap is magically transformed into sweet, sticky syrup and smell the fragrant steam rising from simmering kettles. Learn the secrets of maple candy making and taste free candy samples.
The price is per person with a minimum of 2 persons required.
