Saddle up for a 3 day / 2 night city slicker horse riding & camping experience.

Only one hour west of Ottawa, this vacation experience will create memories to last a lifetime. Horseback ride in pristine Ottawa Valley countryside and camp out alongside the last preserved stretch of the mighty Ottawa River. You well get to feel what the original pioneers might have experienced in this beautiful landscape. Who knows? You may even see Champlain’s Ghost!

The City Slicker Horseback Riding Adventure is a great experience for couples, groups or families.

Upgrade to Trailer Option:
Don’t want to sleep in a tent on the first night?  No problem.  Upgrade to a full size trailer that sleep four adults comfortably.   Trailers come equipped with water hook up, generator for running basic electrical requirments, BBQ, fridge, stove, toilet/shower, coffee machine, cutlery, dishes and cups/glasses.  (You will need to bring your own pillows, blankets, toiletries, paper towel, dish soap, dish clothes, face clothes, towels and other comforts.)


Itinerary:

Day One

  • High Noon      Check in at Horse Country Campground
  • 1pm – 3pm     Horseback lesson  & guided trail ride
  • 3pm – 6pm     Resort Fun (swimming pool, hot tub, beach)
  • 6pm                 Buffet Dinner and live music at Rafters
  • End your evening relaxing by the campfire before you get some rest for the big day ahead!

 Day Two

  • 8am                 Buffet Breakfast
  • 10am               Packing lesson and preparations
  • 11am - 4pm    Guided trail ride, lunch and scenic rest stops
  • 4pm – 6pm     Arrival at overnight camp, unpack, feed and water your horse, go for a swim or canoe cruise along the Ottawa   River
  • 6pm                 Dinner, campfire & sleeping under the stars at the remote Cowboy Camp

Day Three

  • 8am               Cowboy coffee and breakfast
  • 9am               Pack up and guided horseback ride to camp
  • 11am             group photos and goodbyes
  • Noon              Lunch in restaurant
  • 4pm               Campground Checkout

What you need to bring:

  • Sleeping Bag, Pillow
  • Tent (Upgrade to a trailer available)
  • Extra Clothing For All Weather Conditions
  • Closed Heal & Toe footwear (boots, cowboy boots, rubbers)
  • Alcoholic Beverages (you may bring your own alcoholic beverages, restrictions apply and can be explained when you make your reservation)
  • Guitar and Song book!

 Need to know:

  • Horse Assignment: All horses are assigned by the trail guide (customers do not get to pick their horse).
  • Helmets are mandatory for all riders and we provide them at no additional charge. Horse Country Campground's total focus is on your safety and the horses safety at all times.
  • Saddle Options: English and Western
  •  What To Wear: All riders MUST provide their own proper riding attire including footwear with a closed toe/heel, and full length jeans or pants, t-shirt or western shirt. NO flip flops, sandals or running shoes are permitted. NO shorts, bikini tops or swimming trunks are permitted.
  • Minimum Age: Children must be 9 years and older and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Weather Policy: Horse Country Campground reserves the right to cancel or postpone any horse rides as a result of weather making conditions unsafe for both horses and riders. This would include (but not limited to), thunder & lightening or major rain storms, extremely wet trail conditions, exceptional heat conditions/hot days.
